Bro in hospital, grandparents come in to stay….

March 11th, 2008 by cybereug

On Sunday my bro Chris has to go for an operation on his nose. It seems that Doc found an abnormality that blocks 90% of his left nasal passage, thus making it hard to breathe properly. No wonder he has been snoring so loudly…. :P
Anyway, my grandparents came to stay and help to take care of my younger bro Nick and me while Chris and Mum stay in the hospital starting Monday. How loving and caring are they…felt really lucky to have them. It was just for a night, and of course when one or two of your family members are away, you would start to miss them…..
While Chris and Mum were away, I opened up at least a little bit to my grandmother and talked to her, which I didn’t most of the time cause my grandparents don’t know English ( Now you know why I needed to learn Mandarin.). It’s very hard for me as I wanted to be close with them, but I couldn’t. Looks like the two years I spent in Dasein Academy of Art really helped. Hehe… Thank you classmates and friends of Dasein! Continue to speak Mandarin to me, I won’t mind….  :)
Now Chris and Mum are back after the one night stay. His nose is bleeding all the time from the operation, but should be on for a while. Now I’m gonna sleeeeeeeeeeep………damn tired after doing 2 sketches…..Night!

Extra Studies begins…

February 18th, 2008 by cybereug

Extra studies begins again. It happens at the last part of every semester. This is due to the syllabus, in which the major subjects ends in 14 weeks, not inclusive of the semester break holidays. The rest of the semester ends with the extra studies.
During this time, we would have only 2 subjects to learn, but this time we have 3. But I underestimated the few subjects, as the saying goes, " Less is more.". The assignments are multiple, less than my previous major subjects, but DAMN difficult! Logo design is one of the hardest elements of Graphic Design. It is one of our extra studies subjects, and the lecturer says that this is just a warm up for what is going to come in the 5th semester (I’m currently in my 4th semester.), Corporate Identity.
Composition studies. We have to do sketching, again. Which is quite alright, but clashing with other subjects assignment? That WOULD be a problem. Sheesh!

Book Design Presentation Day

February 15th, 2008 by cybereug

Friday the 15th February, has become one of my memorable days in college. The day where we have to buckle up and face our fear of confronting a crowd. I see my many classmates before me, struggling to remember what to say in their presentations. Some said quite a number of sentences, some very little, and one of them……none at all. Maybe he thinks sign language is good enough to show what they want to say.
I did just about "ok". I wouldn’t mine is the best, because there were still some things that I wanted to say. Before the presentation starts, I flipped through my notes that I prepared yesterday over and over again, making sure that I remember everything I have written. When it’s time for me to begin, everything seems pretty easy. Said what I want in the notes, add a little humor here and there, and volia! Fear lessened as I progressed.
But still, it’s just another day in college. There will be more presentations like this in the future, more corporate and serious ones.
Now I’m sitting here at night, typing away in my blog, and hoping that someone would read it. So less commentators here.

John’s birthday dinner, grandparents’ new house….anything else?

February 2nd, 2008 by cybereug

Tuesday 29 January
Went to John’s birthday dinner. I was completely exhausted from my 4.30pm class, which ends at 6.30pm. I was beginning to think, " Can I make it? Can I make it? x10". Dang…. But I did anyway, so there’s no use of complaining about it now. I didn’t have time to buy his present, so I asked Tim to get one on my behalf. Then I thought, why not share it? Save cost right? I left him to make the choice.

8pm. John the birthday boy is still not here ( You wanna starve us to death? ). Met Joel and a new friend, Ruth. We started complaining about John making a grand entry….( hope you don’t see this, John..)* Met a new guy, Daniel ( Jessica’s cousin ). Quite surprised here, Jessica is studying in my college! Lol….
8.10pm. Finally! Birthday boy’s here. Brought Rebecca along( Wow! She’s put on weight! Looking so much better. ) Then comes  Amelia and Brian. Whole gang is here…. let’s eat!

Quite a fun gang, lots of things to talk….I’m the most quiet, cause I don’t know most of them. Lol….

Okay, let me describe the new people I’ve met today. Ruth, Daniel, Amelia, and Brian are all nice, highly sociable people. They can talk about a lot of things…unlike me. Damn quiet lar….

The girl on the left, is Amelia. I’ve not really spoken to her, but she’s quite nice. She’s the youngest among the whole gang.
The guy on the right, is Brian. This guy, I tell you, damn funny lar. Anything he can talk about. First this funny story, then that funny story. I always get bullied by him that night, "Eugene, how many slices of pizza did you eat? You skinny, should eat more…"   Funny guy, funny guy… John used to talk a lot about him in secondary school, about him eating a lot. ( Sorry Brian….)

Birthday boy!

Guy on the left is Daniel. Multimedia Design student….hey, wait, you are student/working? Forgot to ask…..
Girl on the left is Rebecca. Put on weight already…You look nicer! Long time no see! She came back from Australia on the 16th, so just in time to attend this event.

Girl on the far right is Ruth. She’s currently studying broadcasting, 2nd year, I think…. 2nd or 3rd year? Forgot already..sorry….

Gave them all my name card. What a coincidence that I brought just enough for all of them….. :)  Dinner is not the main thing, they’re planning to go to John’s house to celebrate the birthday. Can’t go….. If I had gone, Mum and Dad will have to stay up late…Dang! Should have brought the key with me…..

Final

December 30th, 2007 by cybereug

Year 2007 will end in a few hours time. Many things have happened this year that I enjoy and regret. It’s all gone so fast….maybe too fast. Maybe I feel this way because I didn’t appreciate the time I had there.
I hope next year better things await me. And you too. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!

I am Legend

Alone. The word that is enough to describe this movie. Imagine being alone in the world, without anyone to talk to, or to watch living creatures scurrying across the neighbourhood. Everyone and everything becomes your greatest terror to fear at night.
This movie is a clear example of what human beings’ mistakes are capable of. The story starts with Dr.Robert Neville (Will Smith), who is now the last man on Earth since the cure for cancer turned into a global virus epidemic three years ago, turning cured cancer patients into carnivorous creatures, infecting every living creature on the planet. The doctor must now fight for his life accompanied by his faithful canine companion while finding a way to spread his immune blood to reverse the effects of the virus and restore life on Earth.
In comparison to horror movies, this is a mild one. Shocking elements are predictable, but not in the time you’d expect. Overall, this is a good movie. Unfortunately, it is a short one, running at only 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Vacation

October 29th, 2007 by cybereug

Heh, haven’t been blogging for quite sometime now…..lazy to type :P. My holiday trip to Lagkawi 2 weeks ago was quite a fun one. And I mean damn-lots-of-fun type of fun, wished it never had to end….
My family left the house at 10.30am to get to the Wangsa Maju LRT station. We then took a ride to KL Sentral, where we would meet the rest of our family members and ride together in a coach to LCCT-KLIA Terminal. Upon reaching we waited for the 6.30pm flight. That’s 8 hours worth of time wasted on getting to the terminal! Man! Anyway, back to the story. Riding the aeroplane was thrilling. Its like driving a NO2 powered car in The Fast and The Furious….vroom…. Well, we reached Langkawi about 7.40pm, that’s about an hour’s flight. Upon reaching, we rode straight to the hotel after dinner, then fall asleep……….
Day 2. Had breakfast in the hotel. Once energized, I’m ready to take on the day. Today, we rode the cable car…..Hey, wait a minute, Langkawi has cable cars? I didn’t know that till I rode on it, haha! Its was exhilarating. From here, everything seems to get smaller and smaller. This is where I start to appreciate the beauty of nature. It was nice. So nice that Rm25 per person was a little too much. Some of my relatives didn’t get to sit on it……pity… After this, we went to a harbour, where the ships docked. Very beautiful sight, so peaceful and calm…………….Hey! That’s the yacht Azhar Mansor used for his world record attempt!
Day 3. This is where all the fun really begins. We took a boat ride to Pulau Dayang Bunting, or Isle of the Pregnant Lady. Had a 5 minute walk to reach the lake in the center of the island. The view was very nice……till the scene of people riding solar-paddle boats came into sight. Sigh, this ruins the peaceful scene…. Oh yeah, if you happen to come here, beware of monkeys! The best part was our next boat trip. We rode the waves to an island, which I forgot the name. The scene of eagles, circling the sky then swooping down to catch the unfortunate fish in the sea! How cool is that?!! I only get to see this on television, but this? This is called once in a lifetime experience, folks. Then we went to a beach called Pantai Beras Basah, or Wet Wheat Beach. Huh? Funny name….but I soon found out why. Swimming at the beach was something I had never done for a very long time….
Day 4. Sigh, how time flies! I don’t want to leave this place yet! But we have to….Everybody was busy doing last minute shopping. Left Langkawi on a 11.45am flight. So sad, but would like to come back again……hehe.

About college, it is nice. New building, new colour, new facilities……but I’m starting to miss the old one. Assignments are in a dozen, but I’m cool with that. Its the dealing with clients that I’m worried about…….Anyway, wish me luck! Cheers!

End

October 5th, 2007 by cybereug

This the last week of my holidays. Another 4 more days and I will be standing at the front door of my college, which has been moved to a new location. Now at the edge of the cliff, I’m wondering, would my college life be better than before? Or will it take the turn for the worse? I do not know, no one knows. But I like to keep things at the positive view. Heh….
For this final week, I’ve experienced the joy of music jamming. It’s very nice to be around friends, playing music together.
Enjoy the last days of your last week of holiday, my Graphic Design classmates. Enjoy it to the fullest. See you all soon.

3rd week of holiday

September 28th, 2007 by cybereug

This week has been great. Get to hang out with my ex-classmates, which are my good friends since secondary school. We went out together on Wednesday. Went to watch Ratatouille in KLCC. Nice movie, I like the storyline, its kinda fun to watch the rat cooking.
Went to CK Music nearby Times Square, cause John needs to repair his guitar equipment and wants to enquire when he could bring the machine. Then we went to JS Music, which is a few doors away from CK. We went there for fun, looking at the instruments displayed there.
Last, we went to Bentley’s Music Store, which is quite a walk from CK and situated opposite Isetan, I think. To me, that’s the best place to find really cool instruments. As I said before, I would like to learn to play the bass. So I went with John to the bass guitar section, while Tim and Joel were looking at keyboards. As I looking at the bass guitars displayed there, I imagined myself playing one of the guitars.
Went home quite late, hehe oops…….

Hmmm……

September 19th, 2007 by cybereug

2nd week of my holiday, and I have nothing to do. Bored…. But anyway, I get to do things that I had never done before. For instance, designing a shop logo. Well, its not easy and kinda frustrating at times where you don’t have any more ideas. But its kinda cool, doing stuff like that.

Now, I just spend my time playing computer games, or doing some Photoshop artwork on my own, or even playing my guitar once in a while. Try to get a headstart in my design course, know what I’m sayin’ ?

Just got to know a murder case in Wangsa Maju recently. Damn, the world just keeps getting more and more fuelled with evil. Why do the criminals do this? Is it because of their childhood life, the way they are brought up? Are they mentally unstable caused by diseases or social problems? Or are they just filled with lust that drives them to execute these unspeakable crimes? What’s going on in their head?

Guess we will never know. If people could care about one another, wouldn’t the world be a better place to live in? Listen to the song ‘ If Everyone Cared’ by Nickelback. This song is best used for awareness. Listen to it.
